OFFSET PITARA

The Offset Pitara (trunk) is a curated library of photobooks intended to invite readers to observe, question and partici- pate in the journey undertaken by its presented authors. It’s been creating active interven- tions in looking at the photo book as an artistic form in its own right. Conceived as a resource space for students, photographers, researchers, and those interested in visual media, the library is an ever expanding site of reflection. Our growing collection of books is put together with thought and care to include a range of subjects in storytell- ing, as well as the evolution of the book-object, with a focus on South Asia.

Housed in Delhi, the curated selections from our library travel as portable reading rooms within community spaces, schools, gatherings, exhibitions etc., creating activations and conversations through collective reading programs and connecting critical thinking around the image among a diverse range of disciplines.

The foundation for our activations and programs at the initiative emerge through the library, with a desire to explore the various possibilities of discourse and sociological impacts of receiving the world through languages of creative expression.
